Computer 2000 Press Release 12/10/04
Computer 2000, the UK arm of Tech Data, has launched a configuration service on HP servers, desktops and laptops in response to the growing number of requests it has received from customers for such a service.
The company is offering to perform complete configurations, including RAID implementation, standard image set-up and asset tagging, on the full range of HP systems. Russell Blackburn, General Manager of the HP Business Unit at Computer 2000, says that while HP configuration represents a considerable opportunity for the company this is not the main reason for offering the service.
"This is all about responding to the needs of our customers. A growing number of resellers now prefer to outsource the basic configuration work on HP equipment and we have performed ad-hoc work for a number of them over the past few months. It is easier and more cost-effective for them if we, as their main supplier of HP equipment, can perform not only the logistics and delivery but also take care of the system image and implementation of add-on systems."
Configuration services will be provided at Computer 2000's purpose-build warehousing and logistics centre in Magna Park, which is located in the central Midlands at the heart of the UK's transport network. The company will be able to offer detailed configuration and rapid turn-around on HP configurations, providing all required components are in-stock.
