Actinic Press Release 17/03/05
The past year has seen a huge increase in the consumption of digital music: in the last week of 2004, sales of audio downloads of singles overtook sales of CD singles for the first time.
To help smaller bands and record labels take advantage of this shift, Actinic, the UK’s best-selling ecommerce software supplier, is releasing version 7 of Actinic Audio Store. Based on its award-winning Catalog package, Audio Store offers the facility to sell digital products (MP3s, audio clips and samples) alongside ‘hard’ goods like T-shirts, CDs and DVDs. Digital products are stored securely on the web site and can only be accessed via dynamic links once the payment has been received. See www.actinicaudiostore.com for details.
Actinic Audio Store v7 adds a range of features benefiting all areas of the ebusiness.
Phil Rothwell, managing director of Actinic comments, “The age of downloading is upon us, and in response to this we have developed Audio Store v7 to enable up-and-coming bands, DJs, record labels and producers at all levels to reach a wider audience.”
The technology used in Actinic Audio Store has contributed directly to the success of Trust Me I’m a Thief (TMIAT), the first Irish independent record label to offer a musical downloading service. TMIAT fought off strong competition to earn the award for ‘Best Digital Music Service Online’ at the Irish Digital Media Awards 2005. Label partner Andy Osborn explains, “The internet offers a global audience and Actinic Audio Store has provided us with the means to reach this audience, as well as saving money on the production and posting of tangible goods.”
Prices remain unchanged from the previous version, and Audio Store v7 is available in two forms: an entry-level 25 product version costing £199, and a version capable of selling up to 10,000 products priced at £499. Prices are inclusive of VAT.
