Audio Feast Launches Over 100 Internet Radio Channels for MP3 Players

Audio Feast Press Release 09/11/04

AudioFeast, first to market with a portable Internet radio service for MP3 players, mobile devices and PCs, today announced the launch of its portable music service. Consumers for the first time can use an MP3 player to listen to premier Internet and terrestrial programming, including over 100 channels of popular, commercial-free, digital quality music. The company also announced a strategic collaboration with iRiver America, a global leader in portable digital audio devices, to deliver AudioFeast compatibility with iRiver’s iFP-700 series and iFP-800 series flash-based MP3 players.

Unlike online music stores that require songs and albums to be purchased and downloaded one at a time, AudioFeast customers subscribe to a wide range of programming that is automatically refreshed on a portable device. They gain easy access to a vast library of music without incurring the effort and expense of having to find, purchase and download each and every song. To encourage consumers to try out its new experience, AudioFeast has created a free Basic Service, complete with 60-minute channels of popular music, news, sports and entertainment programming.

“Our goal is to reignite the passion consumers once felt for radio. By expanding and improving consumer entertainment options, we can continue to fuel consumer adoption of the MP3 player,” said Tom Carhart, chief executive officer at AudioFeast. “Our research shows that Internet listeners have an especially deep passion for specific and established programming, and an equally strong desire to make that content portable. Now for the first time they can enjoy their favorite shows anytime, anywhere for one low price.”

AudioFeast’s new music service aggregates programming from more than 50 partners, including the most popular Internet radio stations, nationally syndicated shows and an assortment of independent media outlets and programs from around the globe.

Music channels cover a wide variety of genres, from alternative, classic rock and jazz to eclectic shows, multiple Reggae formats, dozens of electronic subgenres and much more. AudioFeast premier programs include: Digitally Imported, one of the most listened to stations on the Web featuring electronic dance music; Iceberg Radio, one of North America’s largest radio station operators delivering music channels across a variety of genres; Smoothjazz.com, a deep mix of jazz, R&B and pop; Putumayo World Music Hour, an internationally-syndicated program that takes listeners on a global musical journey; and World Café, an eclectic mix of music from blues, rock, and world, to folk and alternative country.
