Mobileaware, Ltd and W3C are hosting a technical workshop on Metadata for Content Adaptation in Dublin on 12-13 October.
The goal of the workshop is to discuss issues such as:
Difficulties in creating variable/multiple presentation XML-based documents.
What is content metadata from device independence points of view?
What kind of meaning should be described in content metadata?
How does content metadata help to adapt content to make it accessible?
Can metadata-driven adaptation overcome client/user disability?
Notation and structure of content metadata, and how it is associated with its content.
The outcome of the workshop will help W3C's Device Independence WG to create a content metadata specification. Some time will be dedicated to describing a core set of content metadata, which will be the starting point of the Working Group's specification efforts.
Details of paper submission due by 6 September 2004, and registration by 2 October are available on the workshop web page
The workshop is being supported by the European Commission's IST Project and is limited to 50 places.
